Rachel Miles
Food Stylist - Home Economist

About Me
Since qualifying as a Home Economist I went on to apply my love of food and hone my cooking expertise in elite ski chalets in Wengen and Val d’Isere, and then in director’s dining rooms and the cookery departments of magazines including Good Housekeeping and Prima in London.

I was then approached to work in the corporate sector as a Home Economist for Nestlé UK based at their Croydon Head office, working amongst a large team of highly experienced Home Economists.

This is where I gained my love of food styling whilst working with numerous top photographers on Nestlé’s extensive number of brands ranging from Nescafe coffee to Sun-Pat peanut butter. I worked on stills for packaging shoots, PR and advertising shots working closely with top celebrities who were endorsing the Nestlé range and I travelled around the world food styling for their commercials.

This experience involved me not only working as a food stylist, but also acting as the client representative for Nestlé frequently, which I feel has been a huge advantage in providing me with the tools necessary to communicate calmly and professionally with clients, designers and food photographers.

I then joined the freelance world of food photography, using my extensive experience and knowledge to build a successful career whilst being a loving mum to our three children as they grew up.

Photographers have described me as calm, patient and easy to get on with, which I feel are the skills needed in busy and sometimes fraught but extremely fun studios. From my heart I love my work and I wouldn’t have wanted for any other career.

I look forward to working with similar likeminded souls in the future!
